Grief is a normal and natural state of sadness shared by all humans after experiencing a significant loss. As a powerful magnet emotion, grief can be a complicated thing to understand. Although there is no one way to experience grief, there are some commonalities or concepts that are helpful in coping with this emotion. This Webinar will present some ways in which individuals can make the journey through the grief process.
Our Presenters:
Alexandra (Sandy) Dellutri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Illinois. Sandy has 30+ years of experience in the mental health field, is a Certified Family and Divorce Mediator, has specialized training in Sexual Assault and Childhood Sexual Abuse, and taught elementary and high school for 14 years. She has spent her counseling career as a high school counselor, staff psychotherapist at a community mental health center, and as the Director of Counseling and Disability Services at Barat College, Barat College of DePaul University, and currently, Northwestern College. In addition to serving as the Director of Counseling and Disability Services at Northwestern College, Sandy also maintains a private practice in Lincolnwood.
John DeMarsilis is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has earned two master’s degrees, one in Clinical Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University, and the other in Health and Wellness from Austin Peay State University. He is also credentialed with The National Board of Certified Counselors. John began his career with a community mental health agency in Nashville, TN, where he worked with children and adolescents as a school-based counselor, and went on to become an administrative and clinical supervisor. After moving to Chicago, John spent several years as a psychotherapist within a group practice setting. He is currently a counselor with The Office of Counseling and Disability Services at Northwestern College.
Costa Provis is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who earned his Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Costa has a wealth of clinical, as well as supervisory experience, and has worked in the non-profit, community/public, and private sectors of mental health over the past 10+ years. He has been the Director of Programming and Clinical Director at various residential and treatment settings. He is certified in crisis prevention/intervention, and has supervised crisis intervention teams at multiple locations. In addition to being a Counselor with the Office of Counseling and Disability Services at Northwestern College, Costa also maintains a private practice in Chicago.
